Who ChatGPT and Perplexity recommend in Sugar Land and Katy, Oct 2026
For Botox and veneers in Sugar Land and Katy, ChatGPT and Perplexity mostly name different businesses. Across the three questions we logged in both engines, they shared one or two names each time. The first name matched in two of the three.
This report covers answers we logged on October 30 and 31, 2026, as part of our nightly runs of the questions patients in Fort Bend County and west Houston actually ask. We asked each engine in a fresh session and recorded every business named, in the order it was named. Nothing here is a review or endorsement of any clinic or practice, and no business paid to appear.

Veneers in Katy: same engine, different wording
We didn't have a matching Perplexity answer for Katy veneers, but we did ask ChatGPT two slightly different versions of the question a day apart. It's a useful look at how much the wording moves the answer.

Three practices appear in both lists (CR Smiles Dental Arts, Portrait Dental and Prime Dental & SPA), but the order changed completely. Adding "near Fulshear" moved CR Smiles Dental Arts from fourth to first and dropped the first-named practice from the earlier answer.
All answers are single sessions. AI answers vary between runs, between engines and with small changes in wording, so treat these tables as snapshots, not rankings. Being named, or not, says nothing about clinical quality.
What the disagreement tells a clinic owner
The pattern matches what we see across Houston: the engines disagree far more than they agree. Three practical points follow.
- Check both engines. A Sugar Land med spa that only checks ChatGPT sees a different competitive set than a patient using Perplexity does. Of the eight businesses named for Sugar Land Botox, only one appeared in both answers.
- Make sure each engine can read your site. They don't share an index. ChatGPT search relies on OpenAI's
OAI-SearchBot, and OpenAI says sites that opt out of it won't appear in ChatGPT search answers (OpenAI crawler documentation). Perplexity asks sites to allowPerplexityBotin robots.txt to appear in its results (Perplexity crawler documentation). Google says its AI features need no special optimization beyond normal indexing and snippet eligibility (Google Search Central). A security plugin that blocks one crawler can remove you from one engine and leave the other untouched. - Use the neighborhood words patients use. "Near Cinco Ranch" and "near Fulshear" changed the answers. If you serve those areas, say so in plain sentences on your service pages and in your listings, so an engine has something to match. Clear, consistent information about a specific service and location is something any clinic can work on. It doesn't guarantee a mention, and nobody can sell you one.
How we collect this
We run the same patient-style questions each night in ChatGPT and Perplexity, in sessions with no history or personalization, and log the date, engine, exact wording and every business named in order. We publish only what the engine said. We don't add businesses it left out, and we don't rank anyone ourselves.
