AI search optimization services: get recommended by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI
Cited is an AI search optimization agency based in Houston, Texas. We help businesses get named when customers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini or Microsoft Copilot who to choose. The work is also called generative engine optimization (GEO) or answer engine optimization (AEO).
Who it's for
Any business that customers pick by asking "who's the best ___ near me?" Our specialty is med spas, aesthetic clinics and cosmetic dental practices, where we log real AI answers every night. The same method applies to other medical and professional practices, law and financial firms, home-services companies and local service businesses generally.
It's a poor fit if you sell mainly through marketplaces, if customers don't compare providers before buying, or if you want guaranteed rankings. We'll tell you that in the audit rather than sell you a plan.
What we do
- Measure. We ask the engines the questions your customers ask, in fresh, unpersonalized sessions, and record who is named, in what order, and what reasons the engine gives. That becomes your baseline.
- Open the doors. We check that the crawlers each engine uses can reach your site: Googlebot for Google's AI features,
OAI-SearchBotfor ChatGPT search,PerplexityBotfor Perplexity, and Bingbot, which feeds Microsoft's search products. A single blocked crawler can remove you from an engine entirely. - Make your facts agree. Name, address, phone, hours, services and people should match across your website, Google Business Profile, Apple and Bing listings and the review and directory sites in your industry. Conflicting facts give an engine a reason to recommend someone else.
- Write the pages the engines can quote. A clear page for each service and location that answers real customer questions in plain sentences, with structured data that states your facts unambiguously.
- Build evidence beyond your own site. Honest, specific reviews and relevant third-party mentions, so the engines aren't relying on your word alone.
- Report every month. Your priority questions re-run, dated and quoted, plus what we shipped. No vanity metrics.
How we know what the engines want
Partly from the engines themselves. Google says the same SEO fundamentals apply to its AI features, with no special markup required, and that a page has to be indexed and eligible for a snippet to appear as a supporting link (Google Search Central). OpenAI says sites that opt out of OAI-SearchBot won't be shown in ChatGPT search answers (OpenAI). Perplexity recommends allowing PerplexityBot to appear in its results (Perplexity).
The rest comes from logging answers. One pattern we see constantly: ChatGPT and Perplexity often name different businesses for the exact same question, so optimizing for one engine isn't enough. Our guide How ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI decide which clinics to recommend shows real examples.

What we won't do
No fake reviews, no purchased "AI rankings," no promised positions, and nothing that breaks your industry's advertising rules. Cited launched in September 2026; we'd rather show you a dated, quoted baseline than a testimonial.
